March 6- March 31 2009 - KENSON SOLO SHOW

This show features new work by local artist Kenson. For this show, the artist says to have gathered inspiration from her everyday life experiences. A simple dream or memory often times serves as the basis for her complex yet calming and cohesive works. Playing with inherent feminine motifs, common themes in her painting range from maternal emotions, the artist is a mother of two daughters, to the often melancholy side of love and life. Despite being known for her spontaneity, familiar objects such as a single bird, crown, or flower often reappear in her works

Working in mixed media Kenson marks deliberately yet spontaneously on her canvas and/or surface. Words, symbols, shapes and lines converge in each of her paintings, creating those that are alive with vivid color and evocative emotion. She puts her entire body and soul into each piece, evidenced through the care taken to perfect each painting by marking out what she does not wish to appear and highlighting that which she does.
